Rinse yellow split peas and add to a large pot with water and turmeric
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes until tender
In the same pot, heat ghee over medium heat
Add cumin and mustard seeds, let them splutter for 30 seconds
Add chopped onion and cook until golden, about 5 minutes
Add garlic, ginger, and green chili, cook for 1 minute
Stir in cooked split peas and coriander powder
Simmer for 5-8 minutes until desired consistency is reached
Season with salt and garnish with fresh cilantro
